Dear Friends,

Happy New Year! It was great to see you all after the holiday break.

Let me tell you that you impressed the angels Thursday night. I can’t tell you how many of them came up to me to comment on how well they thought the dancing went after weeks off. Often after a holiday break it feels like we have to start over at the beginning. Not so Thursday night. Pat yourselves on the back for that!

A few of you have asked how long lessons the lessons are. The answer this week is the middle of March. We have approximately 20 more calls to cover. Some are brand new calls. Some are variations to ones that we already know. My goal is that we will learn them all in the next seven weeks. Then we can take two or three more weeks to add floor time. We have been dancing Circle Left hundreds if not thousands of times. I don’t want to teach the last call and send you on your way. I want you to have a couple of weeks of more floor time.

The question has also been asked what happens after lessons are over. We hope that you will join the Samena Squares. As a member you can attend all the club dances as part of your dues. There will be more information on this in the coming weeks.

On a more practical note, immediately after lessons are over I will offer Mainstream workshops until the end of May. It will give us an opportunity to build up floor time. The more you dance, the better you dance. And we can also play some square dance games or some of the traditional square dance patterns that are fun to dance or explore the many variations of Grand Square.

In the next few weeks I will share about other dance opportunities once lessons are finished.

Stay warm! See you Thursday!

Happy dancing,
Susan
